Best Tripod Sprinkler – Buyer’s Guide

Spending time outdoors enjoying your yard is a timeless tradition especially during the warmer months. Ensuring your grass and plants are adequately hydrated is key to achieving and maintaining a healthy lawn. The purchase and use of a tripod sprinkler system makes watering your grass easier and more effective than ever.

Best Tripod Sprinkler Buyer’s Guide

With thousands of sprinklers available for purchase finding the best tripod sprinkler system for you and your property’s needs can be a difficult undertaking. While researching and testing the top ten tripod sprinklers, we picked up some valuable knowledge. We now want to pass that information on to you, our loyal readers. Let’s get started!

What is a Tripod Sprinkler?

A tripod sprinkler is a specialized version of the traditional water sprinklers used to water your lawn. If you have a very large yard or one that has been heavily planted with many different types of foliage watering can get tricky. This can be especially true in situations where you would need to drag the sprinkler from spot to spot in order to ensure every plant receives the right amount of moisture.

Tripod sprinkler systems usually turn and spray water in a circular pattern. Many options, including the ones we tested, can be customized. You can set the sprinkler to turn in a full circle of 360 degrees or a partial circle that could turn anywhere between zero degrees up to 360 degrees. If your property involves challenging terrain, you can set the tripod up in a centralized location to then spray out in a circular pattern to water a much larger area than a traditional sprinkler could manage.

Key Considerations for Purchasing a New Tripod Sprinkler System

Your new tripod sprinkler system will undoubtedly arrive with some important features that differ from other sprinklers. Some versions are a more basic design while others include impressive design options that set them apart from the crowd. While it is nice to have flashy features, ensuring that you select an option with a sturdy tripod base with a fully functional sprinkler head will help you to save both precious time and money.

Purpose

Perhaps the most crucial point to consider when searching for the right tripod sprinkler system is its purpose. Understanding the purpose will help you to know which tripod sprinkler will work best. Do you need to use the sprinkler to water delicate flowers? Is it meant for an extensive lawn that irregularly shaped? Asking yourself these crucial questions will help you in ascertaining which features are truly necessary so you aren’t overspending on features you won’t actually need or use.

Durability and Quality

If you are going to shell out your hard-earned money for a new sprinkler, you want to make sure that it will last for a long time. Some companies like to use cheap materials to create their products so that they can offer them for an inexpensive price point. Obviously, you as a consumer want to spend the least amount of money possible.

However, if you decide to purchase an inexpensive bargain tripod sprinkler, you will need to be prepared for it to wear out or break rather quickly. Selecting a tripod sprinkler system that is made from higher quality materials means it will be more durable and it will last much longer. A cheap sprinkler becomes much more expensive when you have to replace it. Save yourself the eventual headache and go with a durable, better quality sprinkler that you will only need to buy once in the first place.

Design Aspects

Unless your garden resembles a rain forest, you and your guests will likely see the sprinkler out in the yard. Selecting an option that is designed to be aesthetically pleasing will ensure that the hydration tool will not become an eyesore and will not distract from the natural beauty of your plants. Due to the circular pattern that most tripod sprinklers spray in, you want to buy an attractive version since it will sit in the center of the yard.

Features

Having a tripod sprinkler with fancy features can be a lot of fun. Some tripod sprinklers are motion activated. This feature allows the sprinkler to be triggered by pesky animals such as deer or rabbits that want to feast on your vegetables and plants. Others can be programmed to run at specific times. Thinking about which features are truly crucial to you will allow you to find the right option for you and your property.

Coverage and Bases

If you haven’t previously, measure your lawn, so you know the exact amount of square footage that needs to be watered. You can also alter the amount of land covered by your new tripod sprinkler system by lowering or extending the tripod base. Selecting a version with a telescopic pole makes extending and lowering a breeze. Our testing team also noticed that aluminum tripod bases seem to provide the highest level of durability while being less apt to tipping over.

A tripod sprinkler can make watering large or oddly designed landscapes much easier. Although there are thousands of sprinklers on the market finding the best tripod sprinkler system doesn’t need to be a huge headache. Understanding your lawn’s needs, the size of the area you need to water, as well as what features are most important to you at the forefront of your mind will assist you in getting the most bang for your buck.

We hope you enjoyed reading our reviews of the top ten tripod sprinkler systems. Hearing from our loyal readers always brings us joy. Please drop us a quick line below with your best tripod sprinkler tips and tricks.

I suppose a tripod sprinkler should be safe for kids and pets, that’s why I’m looking for it for so long. It seems like they all can harm people and animals I don’t want to be harmed, but maybe I’m mistaken.

I’m working for the others’ gardens, helping to create the fanciest and the most attractive garden. On one hand, I should think a lot about the look and the beauty of the objects. On the other hand, their quality is important too. So, I chose IrrigationKing RK-1A8 for the last project and have nothing bad to say about it. Work great!

Adding to the previous. The ground spike is metal and ensures a firm and secure fixing without ” wobbling and moving ” when the water pressure is activated, And the pressure is strong there!

I had tried another product (German manufacture) which looked the part but fell to pieces after a few days and decided to try the original Rain Bird. Quite superb and easy to set up / control (unlike the previous which had no instruction whatsoever) The Rain Bird looks built to last and I have ordered a repeat.

Bought Rain Bird as we had a heatwave in the UK this summer. I have tried cheaper imitations… they are not a patch on this. The build quality is superb and you can immediately tell the difference in the greater control over the spray length and pattern

We bought Gilmour, and it works wonderfully, and if it had a 4th leg, it would be perfect for all the purposes. The public needs to learn from my wife’s brilliance and experience!
This is heavy-duty, strong and sturdy, and we have had no problem at all. Works like a pro!

I was a bit skeptical to purchase Gilmour unit due to some of the negative reviews, but after using it for a week I have no complaints! Set-up is super easy, and the base is very sturdy. I am running this sprinkler off our well to water where I over seeded, and with the well set to 45/65psi I can easily achieve the 55’+ spraying distance.
