Best Bug Killer for Home – Buyer’s Guide

If you are left to buy an insect killer on your own, you probably will just pick a product with fancy packaging, a cheaper product or one with a nice fragrance. While these features contribute significantly, they are merely superficial. To ensure you make a good decision, consider the following factors:

Chemical-Based Insect Killers

The most common chemicals used in bug sprays include Deltamethrin, Zeta- Cypermethrin, Bifenthrin, and Pyrethroids. These chemicals are widely used by professionals, they function as an effective insect control for commercial crops.

These chemicals are known to be broad-spectrum pesticides that can kill a wide range of insects ranging from ants, roaches, aphids, fleas, caterpillars, beetles, flies, wasps, true bugs, scales, and beetles.

Although they are considered safe for use at home, they still contain a high level of toxicity. Some of the chemicals take longer to break down in the soil except for Pyrethroids, which takes one to two days to break down under sunlight.

Although these chemicals are mostly naturally produced (derived from plants), they are still highly toxic to fish and animals and can even cause allergic reactions in some people. They should never be used around pregnant women. Also, note that if you choose to purchase this type of insect killer, and you have pets and children, then ensure the spray completely dries off before letting pets or children back indoors.

Organic Bug Sprays

If you prefer to go for an organically-based insect killer, then it’s also a good choice as it guarantees you high elimination of insects. Many of these types of sprays mix essential oils and plant-based ingredients for their products.

Some of these ingredients include cedar extract, peppermint, natural geraniol, citronella, white wine vinegar, and rosemary.

Not only are they efficient in killing bugs and insects, but they are also environmentally friendly as they break down in the soil quicker and are safe for use around children or pets.

Ortho is freaking amazing. I live in Florida where bugs are a common issue but I have both a dog and a cat. This is pet friendly using essential oils in an easy to use spray. It doesn’t even set off my asthma which is a great bonus. Above all else, IT WORKS!

So happy to find a natural at-home bug solution made from natural ingredients. Mdxconcepts smells like a mix of pickles and essential oils. If you are sensitive to vinegar maybe not for you, but personally I don’t mind it at all and I’d way prefer this over chemicals!!!

Mdxconcepts product was recommended to me by a family member. They used it on ants and it worked great. Ants were coming in around my window I got rid of them and sprayed the area liberally, and after the first time the ants never came back!
